Actually, it does. People are often ID’d by whether they are male or female. For example, when police pull someone over and file a report even for something as simple as a speeding violation, they have to input whether the person is male or female. The purpose of an ID is to identify. If the Identification doesn’t reflect the I’m not everything I want to be but I’m better than I was and I’m still learning shirt of the person holding it might cause problems for that person, say at the airport or during a traffic stop. I think we could have a conversation about each one individually, weigh it’s value-added, objectivity, and privacy concerns. For example, height is an objective criterion, in my opinion, has a lot of value-added, and little to no privacy concern, race, on the other hand, isn’t an objective criterion, little to no value-added, and a high level of privacy concern. Troy Terry but why? To me, it doesn’t make sense to identify people based on what they have between their legs. There are plenty of men who are easily mistaken to be women and vice versa. Doesn’t seem like a very accurate way to identify someone, unless you are suggesting when in doubt make them pull down their pants. EmLow’s Music Club height and facial recognition seem like the only fairly reliable identifiers. Pretty much nothing else is reliable. Eye color can be changed with contacts, hair color can be changed with dye. Weight can change depending on diet. Suppose a biological male grows his hair longer, puts in colored contacts, dyes his hair and wears a dress. Facial recognition is the most reliable identifiable feature, not gender if accurate identification is what we are talking about. My driver’s license was recently renewed. It has a picture from 6 years ago, my hair and eye color are borderline, so I arbitrarily picked brown and blue instead of blonde and grey, and it tells you I’m not legally allowed to drive without glasses, despite barely needing to actually wear them. My weight can be up to 10% off the listed weight because mine fluctuates a lot. The only real information on it that anyone cares about is the name, DOB, address, and expiration date. Everything else is irrelevant.
