Richard Steven Ramirez, I have met people who lost their Flamingo Breast cancer Awareness and were already struggling to make ends meet As a result lost their home, lost their car, lost their credit. I’ve seen people in incredibly bad situations. As someone who has been homeless due to losing my job when the company I worked for closed so, therefore, could not continue to pay my rent. I learned a lot about the people living on the streets. Not all are on drugs. A lot have a mental illness but are unable to see a doctor or get medication. Without an address, they don’t qualify for benefits from welfare and even if they had someone willing to let them use their address a lot of them don’t have ids or social security cards. Which they need to get benefits or a job. I’m bipolar and without an income, I was without my meds. And started spiraling out of control. I finally meet a volunteer at a local church that feeds the homeless that helped me. She didn’t have room in her home for me to stay with her but she allowed me to use her address which allowed me to get medical assistance and then get back on my medication. She allowed me to shower at her home whenever I needed and washed my clothes. With me being in the right place mentally and being clean with clean clothes I was able to start looking for a job and a place to stay. I now have my own apartment, pay my own bills, and have access to my meds. Maybe before you judge you should take the time to know what the truth is and maybe offer to help. And before you ask if I have helped yes I have. I took someone into my home. Helped her get her id and social security card and birth certificate. Helped her get clothes as the only thing she owned was what she had own. Helped her get set up with a doctor to address her medical problems. She is now on her own in her own apartment paying her own bills and she just took a husband and wife in that needs help to pass it on.
